Discovering good movies, one bad movie at a time

Many years ago, a film the likes of which had never quite been seen – made on a budget with which few directors could imagine working – astonished audiences around the world. Now, more than a decade after that first film’s release, its creator is finally releasing the long-awaited sequel, grander and greater in scope than the first!

No, not that guy. We are, of course, talking about Nabwana I.G.G. (Isaac Nabwana), founder of Kampala, Uganda-based Ramon Film Productions (or “Wakaliwood”) and director of Who Killed Captain Alex?, Bad Black, and many others. Isaac was kind enough to sit down with me to discuss his incredible career and his latest project, the follow-up to Who Killed Captain Alex?

Isaac and I discuss his evolution as a filmmaker over the last decade, how he makes “action-packed” movies, and how Who Killed Captain Alex 2 will be an international extravaganza that is still, first and foremost, a film for Uganda. He also drops some tantalizing hints about what he has in store for us in that long-awaited sequel, besides a notable lack of real cow blood.

Enjoy our chat, and get hyped for da best of da best action movie sequels!
