The Fishbowl – A Fictional Story Rooted in Experience
Victoria McDevitt sits down with director Gloria Marrero Sanchez and lead actress Isel Rodriguez to talk about the heartbreaking story of a family in Puerto Rico who are victims of years of water contamination, left behind from the US Navy’s presence in their territory. The result is a film about one woman’s experience with dealing with the impact of year’s of unhealthy water sources and her ultimate decision to own her health decisions.
While The Fishbowl is tragic and hard to watch at times, the reality that the story follows the experience of the director’s mother, it makes the reality of the story all the more difficult to process.
