TOKYO DRIFTER: THE FILMS OF SEIJUN SUZUKI
Since one director retrospective at a time just isn’t enough, I’ve partnered with Mike Phillips over at Goatdog for a new, hopefully weekly, series covering the strange and wonderful films of noted Japanese filmmaker Seijun Suzuki. First up at Mike’s place, we take a look at Underworld Beauty, the earliest Suzuki film currently on DVD. A splendid time is guaranteed for all who love sex and violence. And if you somehow don’t love sex or violence, you should probably spend some time figuring out why.
