I’m a couple weeks behind the loop on this one it seems, but while having lunch today (peanut butter & jelly sandwich, celery, skim milk, because I am six years old) I caught a commercial for Burger King’s newest menu item: the Stacker.
The Stacker is a bacon cheeseburger that comes in sizes from the unwise (two patties, four strips bacon) to the dangerous (three patties, six strips bacon) to the immoral (four patties, 8 strips bacon). The selling point, in addition to the immeasurable sum of meat you can put into your body in one go, is the total absence of anything plant-based on the sandwich. I presume ketchup and mustard are exempted.
Given that this was during The Colbert Report, I almost wanted to believe that it was a parody. But no, this seems to be a completely legitimate and salable product. I’m honestly in awe of this concept: do there exist people who have actually thought, “damn, I loves me a Whopper, but the onion, lettuce and pickle just make it too fucking healthy”? And even that leaves unanswered the question as to whether there truly are human beings who can eat one-half pound of Burger King meat in one sitting without falling over dead right there in the restaurant.
Also, it looks like this:
