I doubt I have to point anyone to The Onion, but I just wanted to make sure everyone saw this article about a new faith-compatible scientific theory: Intelligent Falling. When they’re on, they’re really on
I don’t want this to turn into a Cranky Rationalist blog (PZ Myers at Pharyngula has that title for perpetuity, anyway), but I really do believe that the current imbroglio over Intelligent Design is perhaps the most important issue in domestic American politics and culture right now. More than two-thirds of American adults believe that Intelligent Design is a valid scientific theory that should be taught alongside evolutionary theory in public schools.
The fact of the matter is that the “holes” in evolution are neither destructive nor inexplicable, and there is nothing whatsoever scientific about ID. I won’t bother looking for sources to back me up, as a cursory Google search should turn up a few dozen articles that agree with me.
