For a few days now (a week?) the internet has been full of rumours that Arrested Development had been picked up for two 13-episode seasons by Showtime. I deliberately avoided spreading this rumour for the very good and very rational excuse that it would totally jinx it if I posted.
The change now is that Tim Goodman of the San Francisco Chronicle has claimed in a radio interview (about 10 minutes in) that it’s all true:”Everybody in the business already knows that this has been a done deal…Showtime did pick up Arrested Development for 26 episodes, two seasons at 13 each.”Goodman has a great reputation (unlike that airheaded Kristin Veitch), and I can’t imagine that he’d risk it with gossip if there wasn’t a right damn good reason to believe it.
And yet…
This all hinges on Mitch Hurwitz saying “yes.” If he had, I think we’d all know it. And I can’t help but fear that Showtime and/or Fox has leaked this information to try to force Mitch’s hand.
Dear God, but being an AD fan makes you fucking paranoid and cynical.
