“WE’RE WITH THE VIPERS!”

Last night’s Sopranos was…different. Nothing really happened, just a lot of character stuff, but character stuff in the way that’s going to pay off down the road. Here’s my problem: we’re getting down the wire (only three episodes left! proclaims the teaser for next week), and something really amazing needs to happen to carry us into the final eight next year.

-The Christopher scenes at the beginning led me to believe there’d be some important Adriana-related stuff happening, and I was seriously disappointed that it didn’t.

-The Paulie stuff was all pretty good, and I’m glad they’ve seemingly resolved his mommy-issues plotline. Or perhaps not, who knows with this show; but I choose to believe that they’re starting to take some of these balls out of the air.

-I like Janice better when she’s not on screen.

-Overall tone of the episode: elegaic. Which is of course appropriate, given the way this season has been hammering the theme of The End. But still, couldn’t we mix the elegy with a little bit of plot?
