UN FILM DE…

And so it comes to pass that I can share with the world the reason for the peculiarities of my blogging schedule in the last couple of weeks; the reason I needed a sanity day; and for those who care not about such things, I just get to brag.

As some tiny number of you know, I’m not just a fella who like to watch and review films – I’m also a fella who has for a great many years wanted to make films, though things from lack of funding to lack of creativity and imagination have stymied me ever since 2005, when I finished a real damn bad debut feature.

That has now changed, thanks to a contest hosted at Trigger Street, and sponsored by Stella Artois. I have now put together a six-and-a-half minute short film, and thrown my hat into the ring for a chance at $50,000. There is no reason for me to have shared all of this backstory, but anyway, you can view the short at http://stellaartois.triggerstreet.com/ShortFilmProject/index?id=2484308 (scroll down; there’s unfortunately no way to embed it here, that I can tell).

Now, I’m not asking all of ye my blog minions to go out and vote for me en masse… Actually, seriously, I’m not asking that. The voting process is too arcane and requires registration and all sorts of crap, and anyway if there’s a sudden influx of new users all giving high marks to one movie, it’s probably going to run me afoul of some rule or another. I really just wanted to share it with everyone who reads the blog, and in the process call into serious doubt whether I have any right to bitch about other people’s filmmaking skills whatsoever.
