After flailing around all morning, attempting to think of something pithy and interesting to post, I remembered – I’m neither pithy nor interesting.
Anyway, I finally figured out what I could write about, although I question whether it’s as important as all that. It’s not making any headways in the newspapers, which means either “They…” don’t want you to know about it, or it’s the product of demented leftist yahoos. Which ordinarily wouldn’t bother me, as a card-carrying leftist yahoo, but for some reason I’m feeling extra-cynical today.
So, apparently Illinois, California, and Vermont have figured out a way to impeach Bush. It turns out that state assemblies can submit impeachement charges to the U.S. House of Representatives. And you know what I think? With the combined might of the Vermont and Illinois legislatures, the U.S. Congress will have no choice. Impeachment is an inevitability.
Okay, so I obviously would love – love! – to see Bush & Friends face some legal ramifications for their many lies and crimes, but this isn’t how it’s going to happen. Even if the point was just to make the mainstream media sit up and take notice, it’s apparently failed (it appears that the biggest newspaper to cover this story – indeed, the only newspaper of any note – is the Chicago Sun Times).
I’m wondering why I should care again. Let’s see, this worked before:
