Here’s a hell of a thing to greet you, first thing in the morning. Bush has named Harriet Miers to replace Justice O’Connor.
I don’t expect warmth and bipartisanship from this administration…nor do I expect sanity and reason.
But to nominate to the Supreme fucking Court, the White House counsel – a woman who is not and has never been a judge – Bush’s onetime personal lawyer – makes pushing Roberts for Chief Justice seem like a positively studied and wise decision.
It seems beyond obvious to me that Miers has been named because she lacks a paper trail – just like Roberts. I therefore presume that 22 Dems will vote “yes” on her, too.
