THE LONG, STRANGE SCOTUS SESSION OF 2005-06 IS OVER

The Supreme Court has closed its session by ruling, in the case of Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, for Hamdan: the U.S. government does not have the right to create kangaroo courts to try people for vague acts of terrorism without the basic safeguards that Congress and the Constitution require for all trials.

After a week of generally disappointing judgments, it’s exciting-unto-euphoric that the court has laid such an unmistakable smackdown on the administration.
