Edited, evening 5/9/09: I am kind of startled by the incredible speed with which the original review has more than doubled my previous record for comments, for “300” – and that took two years to reach 13. Thanks to everyone, pro or con, for keeping the tone elevated, and special thanks to Will for helping to clarify my position on the previous “Star Trek” films.
Also, I want to make it clear that I’m actually quite proud of the death threats.
So, I had a major film critic’s rite of passage this morning: my first death threat!

“Why don’t you go put a bullet through your skull, Brayton, and save the rest of us the trouble.”
Incidentally, “A rollicking entertainment” is perfectly fine English, though admittedly archaic.
And the review hasn’t even been up for two hours! This shall be fun to watch over the weekend.
