First, I want to wish everyone an outstanding year and decade; whether your 2009 was excellent or terrible, here’s to a 2010 that’s even better!
Second, the Online Film Critics Society has announced our nominations for our 2009 awards. The whole list is here; I shan’t share my thoughts on the overall quality of the list, but I will just point out some stats: Inglourious Basterds leads the nominations with 8, The Hurt Locker follows with 7, District 9 and Up in the Air each have 5, and A Serious Man and Up each have 4. When I put up my year-end list later today, you’ll be able to compare what I think are the best films of 2009 with what my colleagues chose collectively, but I’d bet a lot of you are probably already able to guess.
