I’ve noticed this blog attract some odd Robert Bresson love in the past, so I felt the need to point out a very exciting, very rare opportunity: tonight at 2:00 AM EST, Turner Classic Movies will be airing his Procès de Jeanne d’Arc, unavailable on any video format in this country – making it not just one of the rarest of all Bresson films, but also one of the rarest Joan of Arc films. This particular film is based solely on the transcripts of her trial, which should put it right next to Dreyer’s La passion de Jeanne d’Arc (one of my all-time favorite movies) in the “verisimilitude” camp. For those who miss it, I’ll certainly be watching and reviewing it before the weekend is out.
