DISNEY ANIMATION: OVER AND OUT

Well, it’s done. 45 films, almost in 45 days, as promised. And the next time I even hint that I might try to do something like this, I want everyone to slap the shit out of me in comments.

At the same time, I don’t mind saying it: I am damn proud of some of what I wrote in there. Not all of it, particularly towards the end. But some of it is real good stuff.

Anyway, I want to thank everyone who gave so much support to me over the last six weeks; I truly do not think I could have gotten half this far if I didn’t know that people out there, some of whom I will never know but as a few lines of text on a computer screen, were really, genuinely enjoying what I wrote. Nobody could ask for better readers and commenters than you all, and from the bottom of my heart, I say that this project isn’t mine: it’s yours. Without you, this would all mean nothing, and I’d probably have crapped out around Sleeping Beauty.

There were too many people who chimed in throughout the 45 entries for me to personally mention all of you, but to a few certain names, I want to extend especial thanks: to Meg, GeoX, Brigdh, Tom, Oliver, and John Holdun, who all had so many kinds words and thoughts to share. And above all, I want to extend my greatest and most sincere gratitude to javi75, who commented a staggering 32 times across 28 posts. We disagreed as often as not, but it is clear that you were never any less sincere and honest in your opinions than I try to be myself, and it was one of the great privileges of this project to hear so often from someone whose views on these films so frequently diverged from mine; you kept me honest and focused, and made me think a lot harder about my own responses to these films. And incidentally, I think you’re right-on with that homoerotic reading of The Fox and the Hound.

There will be a few lists and things for the next little while, for those who want to hear more of my Disney-themed ramblings.
