The Wizard of Oz

Celebrating its 70th anniversary this month: a film largely remembered for its historical importance, as one of the most ambitious Technicolor films of its day, as well as being, accidentally, the project that lit the fuse on a rocket later known as the Freed Unit. Adapted from a largely forgotten series of children’s books, The Wizard of Oz is not without its charms even for a modern audience, and it is by all means a film ripe for rediscovery.

The review – likely, the most pointless I’ve ever written – goes live on 8/23.
